In November 2009, the Federal Reserve issued amendments to Reg E that will affect ALL financial institutions. It does not matter whether you are running an overdraft program or not, beginning on July 1, 2010, financial institutions will no longer be allowed to charge an NSF or overdraft fee for ATM and one-time debit card transactions unless they have an affirmative opt-in from the account holder.

If your institution issues ATM/Debit cards, then a portion of your NSF/OD revenue (estimated between 25% and 50%) is generated from these types of transactions. If you do nothing at all, this income will go away beginning July 1, 2010.
